Can something else go wrong ... Fvck!

Ok I need some advice and or help guys asap!!

Its a 2000 1.8T quattro with around 78000 miles...

Having issues with the oil pressure lamp and a small leakage so I had my mechanic replace my valve cover seal and flush the system..ie dropped the pan and cleaned the screen etc.

Still had issues until I found the Auto Rx...I am 350 miles into the first stage of the 1500 miles ...so far so good just cant excelerate (mind you Im chipped) into the 4500 to 5000 rpm and really get on it..oil lamp will go on ...and I dont want to stress my engine while its beeing "cleaned" throughout this cycle.

which brings me to today (sorry long post ..just want to be thorough) get home from driving around Santa Monica looking for apts with gf. pull into to my parking spot in the garage and the car just doesnt feel right.. not in gear.. but im still in drive..so I stop put it in park..then reverse..and a HARD thump...put it back in drive and it doesnt want to go or feel like its in gear..so I park it and turn it OFF. My info screen on my dash WHILE IN PARK reads DRIVE??

all my belts are running..... idle fine... no wierd noises... I did a throttle body (like when you swap ecu's) and then disconnected the battery ..and that is where I left it..

ANYONE PLEASE!???

dang, this is probably something you already know but it seems tranny related. best bet would be to have it looked at by someone and see whats goin down with that mother. good luck and i hope its not tranny related cuz those problems really suck *****.

 

Are all of your gears backlit (ie reverse of how they should be lit?) If so your tranny is in limp mode and will only work in 4th gear and reverse. Sounds like that is what is going on. You will have to access a vagcom and pull the codes from the transmission control unit

I know its tranny related but could it just be I need to change out the fluid and filter?? I have noticed some smell coming from the drivers side weel well at times but only in high heat and harder driving conditions and its infrequent

so if its in "Tranny Limp mode" then obviously not driveable right?

anything else ?? no check engine light at all??

 

CEL only comes on for emission related problems. Car can be driven, but obriously not for long distances. Limp mode will get you home.

 

My car was going into LIMP mode due to memory errors in the TCU. Fortunately, I was going to get a GIAC tip chip anyway, and that solved the problem.

 

so the fix to the transmission control unit (tcu) is to get the mod GIAC tip chip? so possibly I could get this to fix it??

 

if ur tranny is in limp mode(all the tranny lights on dash lit) all u have to do is turn the car on, not started, press the gas pedal, hold, then turn the car off. ur supposed to hear a click but when i did it to mine i didnt hear anything. that worked for me. it had the same symptoms urs does

 

my car was doing the same thing urs was, it would hit reverse really hard and pretty much and gear. my car was like that when i first bought it so i didnt know the tranny was in safe mode i thought it was the quattro system messed up. i drove around with mine like that for a while and the tranny is still good. it just eats through gas like its cool.

 

gotcha..hope thats just it..so wierd .... my buddy with the vag is coming by to read anything from the ecu..

what causes this??

audis so strange.. do I have to hold the trip...push the fog light switch ...turn the radio on..pat my head and rub my belly too?? !! haha
