painting my lowers ... supplies? / PAINT CODES??

So I think im going to go buy supplies today to paint my lowers (hopefully next weekend I can do it).

quote from painting lowers DIY:

"For the sides I used 4-6oz cans of silver and 2-12oz can of clear coat and 1-12oz. can of plastic adhesion promoter."

For painting everything (2 sides, front lower, and back lower) should I get 10-6oz cans of silver, 6-12oz cans of clear coat, and 3-12oz plastic adhesion - just to be safe and have more than enough?

Is there anything else I am missing? (other than newspaper and masking tape)

Is it pretty east to remove / put back on the front and rear lowers?

It seems that it will take me about 8 hrs...

thanks for the input

If the paint is anything like regular automotive paint, the actual paint and waiting process is quick. Just a quick 15 minute flash between each coat, and the clear is all that is needed. I would take my time and figure an easy day to do, but if done slow and steady, and right, the results should be good. Just remember getting the right match might be tough, depending on the color and if you use a primer or not.

The nice thing about having the Silver color Audi uses, is Duplicolor makes an exact match automotive paint that's available everywhere. +1 silver cars!

Here is a great website with awesome painting instructions for plastic:
http://www.performancecoatings.dupon...!visitorAction
I used Dupont plastic cleaning paste, Gold 3M scotchbrite pads, Dupont plastic adhesion promoter, Dupont plastic sealer, Basecoat using the factory paint code, and clearcoat using Dupont flex agent.
It took me about 3 days to do the whole thing (from lowers removal to lowers re-install). I took my time (first attempt ever at bodywork) and was happy with the results. I strongly suggest you use catalyzed products with an air gun, I think it will have longer lasting results.
Here are a few pics of the process (before/during/after).
Good luck.
