So, no one has any idea what turbo that is? Looks like either a GT28RS or a GT2871R to me..

If there is what u written compressor housing .50 a/r then maybe is GT3071R-WG Dual BB, 64AR, 84 Trim Turbine? Check other data and compare here

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=GRT

Also if this is that turbo you should be aware of internals, like rods, pistons and so on...

Hmmmm, or did he buy the car, find a problem, and is trying to pawn it off on you?

I have problems when someone tries to flip a car after owning it for a month.

Yep, which is why im a bit dubious. However, what im asking here, are what are the right questions to ask, and what should I look for in particular, that might be a dead give away of a lemon. And, so basically the consensous is that if the car is legit as claimed, its a good deal, right?

If this car is running on GT3071R or GT2871R you will blow the internals or have to change them. Also what HP and torque is the car running on? Engine with stock internals is OK for 350 HP if you have more power you have to change internals, that is my opinion. Also the compression on stock internals is to high to withstand more power then 350HP. Do the dyno and you will see where you stand. Think it over, don't be sorry later.

i have no idea if this holds true for cars...but for motorcycles, you can't get an out-of-state bike to pass smog in california...maybe that's just bikes though...sounds like a good buy, but definitely let a good euro mechanic take a look at it.

Ok so i did a little detective work. I found out the name, and phone number of the previous (and first) owner, and im planning on calling tommorow to get the whole story on the car. Im thinking hell be honest, because hes got nothing to gain or lose. Also, his story matches up, and it was sold to him 2 months ago, and hes selling it to me for exactly what he paid. In the pictures i have of the car, it was taken in front of SVE autobody, which is a reputable audi, and high end body shop. Why it was taken there, i dont know, but i also plan to call the body shop and have them tell me about the car if they know anything. Im definately not going blind into this. Also, the previous owner said this is "supposed" to be making around 300 hp.
pix of the turbo

any ideas?

Yeah definitely call the body shop, and ask them some questions on the car. Call the previous owner also ASAP just in case the new owner contacted him before you. Be sure, after all you'll be driving it from Colorado to cali..............Also, fleet vehicles always get some punishment from the drivers!

David9999 has a point specially when he only owned the car for a Month. Just make the owner take a lie detector test!

I called the bodyshop, and they said they never worked on the car, but it was probably at "autosport works" which is the high end porsche/vw/audi tuner across the street. So I called them and talked with the owner, and he remembered the car well. He said the owner took it to the shop for a compression/leak down test and that the motor was 170 across the board. HE said the car was in excellent shape, and whoever had it put ALOT of money into it. He also thinks that the turbo is a gt25, but wasnt sure. Overall, he had nothing bad to say about the car, and told me everything that the owner had told me about. He did however say thay i should try to get it for around 14500 and ill be doing very well.
