Default Planning on buying a 2005.5 or 2006 A4

First off, hello to all. My wife and i are interested in buying our first Audi and have a few questions to ask. Hopefully you all can be of help.

-Like i said, this will be our first Audi, but not our first Euro vehicle. My wife currently drive a 1999 Mercedes C230K. Concerning the Audi, what are we in for?

-How is the reliability rating of the Audi vehicles? Are there certain problems that Audi is known for? (For example, Merc is known for electrical problems)

-How well does the Audi keep its resale value? I am not planning on getting rid of this vehicle anytime soon (if we were to buy it), but we do have a wandering eye for vehicles after about a couple of years.

-Can anyone tell me about the safety of Audi's vehicles? I can read all of the reports and ratings online, but first-hand experiences are preferred. Also, my wife and i will hopefully be trying to start a family soon, so i would obviously like a very safe vehicle.

-If there is anyone on here from around the San Antonio, TX area, i would like to ask a few "local" questions concerning the Audi dealership and clubs.

-Traditionally, is it tough to purchase an Audi at or around invoice price? I realize that is kind of a strange question, but some car companies are more notorious than others when it comes price haggling.

Hopefully you all will be kind enough to get me on the right track with my (possible) purchase of the Audi A4. I may have more questions, so i hope you all don't mind.
Thanks Again

the new audis have a new engine (2.0 instead of the 1.8) but are reliable if u baby it and there will be regular mantance in the future like belts and pump and blah
but remember a car is only as reliable as its owner

Audis wont have a great resale like a Mbenz

like panda said, they are very reliable if they're taken care of...a neglected audi is worthless after 100k+ miles

the resale value is not so great....96 A4s can sell for 5 grand or even less...01s have been sold for around 10 grand up to 20. but again, it will vary depending on how well you take care of it...

audis are pretty safe, they're a very solid car. the airbag system is pretty good (airbags in a-pillar as well as seat bolster)
