plastic clips for windows
I don't know exactly what i need to purchase. A few weeks ago i had rolled down my window and i had tried to roll it back up but it wouldn't go back up. My friend and i had to pull it up by hand. My window stayed up for a few days and then a while after i was driving and my window kept sliding back down. Everytime i press the bottom for my window to go put i'd hear a weird sound. My friends took out my door panel and the clips had broken. I had tried to call the dealership to by clips but they had told me that they didn't sell the clips seperately. Can someone tell me what i need to do and what to purchase.

RE: plastic clips for windows
VW had a recall for this very same problem. Some New Beetles and Jettas were affected. The problem was the plastic clips that were holding the window in place. In the recall, VW is replacing the plastic clips with metal ones that will not break. Try to get the metal clips from a local VW dealer. They can probably hook you up.

RE: plastic clips for windows
Is it a rear window or front. All of the clips are metal and vw just has a repair kit for it in the front. For the rear there is a plastic rod that goes thru the window and snaps into the clip. This plastic piece sometimes falls out. What is the funny noise. Does it sound like the motor is going but something is tangled up?Busted regulators are extremely common. Not really a recall just a tsb. You most likely just need a regulator repair kit. Thats all we use at our dealer.

What year is your car? Mileage? Audis have a 4 yr/ 50k mile factory warranty. If you're under these #s, you should be able to get these taken care of at Stevens Creek Audi.

RE: plastic clips for windows
sounds like the regulator to me if its making noises....i had to replace all four regulators in my car!! actuallyi had to replace two of them twice!! shit sucks...but you can do it yourself its not to hard just order the regulator which is $120 from egermanparts.com. the regulator is riveted in so you have to drill those out, get a rivet gun and some rivets, you can pick those up at any auto store for like $20. anyway, when i did my driverside the second time i replaced the rivets with nuts and bolts just make sure you get some locking washers if you do this. hope this helps and good luck!
