P:S HELP: THink I FOUND MY AUDI!!
Hey Guys,
As some of you know I have been looking for a clean late 90s A4 for a while now. I found a car today who a lady (early 40s) has owned for the past 4 years. She is the second owner of the car. The car is dark blue exterior with light grey leather interior.
I wanted to know if you guys thought this was a good price, I live in Chicago.
Specs:
Yr: 1997
Engine: 1.8T QUATTRO
Miles: 76,200
The lady said she has receipts that the timing belt and control arms have been changed!! She also has the remote start option for the car which would be nice in the winter. However, the power locks do not work from the audi oem remote since it looks like the motors or something are gone. The car does lock though but with the key only.
The car looked extremely clean (leather...interiors..etc), there were some slight wear on the paint which is normal for a 1997.
She is asking $8000 for the car. The kbb for the car in good condition is $8100 and poor is $7400.
What do you guys think is a good price I should ask it for? I am quite confortable with the fact that the timing belt and control arms were changed, however dont want to spend too much fixing the locks. How much would fixing the power locks cost?
ALso, I guess most 97s did not come with an indash CD player, this one does not have a CD changed, are most Audis (97s) pre wired for a cd changer and if so how much do those run used?
Please let me know as I want to call the lady tom and make an offer. If you could provide a range for what I should end up paying for it would appreciate it.
Thanks a ton in advace!!

Don't know about the price... but the car will be wired for the 8 pin cd changer (opposed to the 13 pin)
... 8 pin 13 pin... refers to how many pins in the plug. I usually see the changers sell for 200US or so, though I havent checked in a while.

think the price is a little high.. I would try and knock that down to 7500.. and correct me if im wrong but the door locks work of a vaccum system.. is the car manual or auto? ( im going to take a wild guess and say auto becuase the remote start)

hey
Yes it is auto and I was thinking to offer $7400 too....but now I am thinking maybe I should wait and look for nice one, maybe manual with some mods done as I want to do them eventually anyways.....so confused!!l lol
what are some good sites apart from autotrader and cars.com to find modded enthusiast cars?

I got my 97 A4 1.8t for $5000. I got a good deal. Mine doesnt have the auto start, but it does have a 12 disc changer in trunk w/remote, and a wood-grain package. It looks really good. It's a yellow one. It is not the Quattro just FWD. Only had a minor scratch on passenger side panel. Working on getting pics. on here soon
