Default Please I need some help!!!

Hi Im new to the forum. I have a 1999 a4 with a 1.8. I have a problem, last night I got in the car and turned on the lights but the head lights did not come on. The rear lights and dash lights came on, even the little green light in in the guages came on but no lights. I could pull the passing lever and the lights would come on but when you push it forward to high beam I got nothing. the rear and front fog lights button on the dash does not light up but did the night before. can some one please help me out with this. I dont know if Im doing somthing wrong or turned somthing off by accident. I just got the car so I dont know what everything does yet.
thank you all in advance for any info
Richie

Gonna be tuff to help you with this one. At least for me.

Sounds like an electrical short somewhere. Forum experts should "pipe up" soon.

Where you located? Maybe there's a good Euro-performance shop near you.

you do know that high beams and low beams are on a different circuit INSIDE the bulb right? If the high and low are all on one bulb then that have different circuits inside the bulb. I believe the headlights are one one bulb and if so get new lights and your fine.

I checked the fuses anf they are all ok .Any other sugestions? I have heard that the key assembly can be a trouble spot. I tried to wiggle the key around and turn it back and forth still no luck. is their a chance I turned somthing off and I didn't know it? I checked the manual and cant find anything but that but that dosent mean much.

could be the light stalk/switch its self or a bad ground first place to check would be the head lights area next would be the stalk which you turn the lights on with

its your headlight switch, I guarantee it... mine did the same thing after i got it... the switch went bad, its an easy fix, the switch will run you about 130 bucks though.. i had to drive halfway across the country holding the switch into pass mode..
