Please identify this hose on a 2.8
Could someone please identify this hose on a 2.8? I noticed the other day that this line on my 2.8 is broken right where the red arrow is pointing. The two broken ends arebeing held together by some sort of shrink-tube stuff and it's a pretty weak joint.(that's what he said)
Should i be concerned? Do i need to get this replaced asap? When i pulled the two ends apart, it had a bunch of oil gunk inside of it, so maybe this is some sort of oil breather tube?
Any help would be appreciated. This isn't my engine, but it's the best one i could find that shows the hose clearly.

It's the crankcare breather hose. Yup, you should fix it, as it's now a vacuum leak.
You can also take some heat shrink tubing, & cover the broken part & seal it that way.
Duct tape is also a temp fix.

Yeah, i wish mine was SC'd too. 2K - thanks for the info. I figured it was some sort of breather tube, but wanted to confirm. I'll just replace it since the shrink-tube idea was tried by either the PO or shop and itdidn't take.

Anyway, here is what worked for me, get fairly large shrink tubing. Cut a piece 3 inches and slide it up the tube and cut a 1 1/2" piece and slide it up the other side. First shrink the 1 1/2" tube with the break in the center of it. Then slide the 3" piece down over the same section and heat it up. Makes the joint almost as stiff as the rest of the hose and should create a pretty decent seal. $2 well spent.
Thanks TD, too late.Bought a newbreather hose today. [:@]$100 bucks. I was actually surprised that the stealership had it in stock.
Ah well, at least i'll have something to do tomorrow and know that it'll befixed right. Not that the shrink-tube wouldn't work, but the thought of itresting against a hot engine only leads me to believe itwill soften up again and tear like it did when they tried to fix it like that the first time.
Besides, it gives me a reason to rip stuff apart and put it back together again!
