i have an Audi A4 1.8 2002 automatic car,everytime i step on the gas there's a whistling sound...Is there someone knows what is it? Please someone help me...

 

Where is it coming from? What area of the vehicle?

And is the tune recognizable???

a whistling sound??? lol... its the turbo. it usually happens in most 1.8's

 

For those of us fortunate enough to have a turbo, its not real common for them to whistle.

A bad turbo sounds more like a drill than a whistle, and a whistle sound could be many things.

In ateurv8's case, its probably his whistle tips.

 

i think its not the turbo,its a wining sound everytime i step on gas...even i drove 20-30 miles per hour...i already have an appointment on friday but i don't have spare car and i wanna make sure if its safe to drive it for another 2 days,50 miles driving to my work...

 

Could it be electrical noise coming through your car speakers?

This noise is common if you have a bad ground somewhere, and would increase as engine speed increases.

Does it change with engine speed? Do you hear it at idle, or only when moving?

 

if i increase my speed the more it makes louder wining sound.
