Post your problems
I had a pretty interesting experience last night. I met a VW/Audi mechanic while working on my friends truck. I mentioned I have a 2001 A4 Quattro, AWM engine with 64k miles. He went on to tell me every problem I've had with the car since I bought it.
At about 58k, my ABS/Brake light went on (bad ABS module)
59k, coils went out, tie rod ends started to wear out
63k, airbag light went on (caused 99% of the time by bad seat belt buckles)
60k rear transmission seal seeping (said it was a little more rare)
50k noisy lifters
He also told me to get my TB done soon (got it done at 60k
). He also agreed with me that my dad got swindled into a clutch job, because there is no way my clutch was 'worn to the rivets' at 59k, especially when I never had problems with it slipping. Especially made me mad that when I demanded to see the old clutch they couldn't show me it - habeus corpus?
Basically, he knew exactly whatis wrong or has been wrong with my car just by the engine code, year, and mileage. I figured if Audis are this predictable, we ought to make a database of what issues we have had, the mileage, etc.
This should serve to help people diagnose problems they are facing, and also know what expenses to expect.
Basically list your mileage, engine code, year, and what problems and at what time.
