Power window blues!
My driver's side window has been going down slowly and up even more slooowly until now, it gets halfway up and stops and then goes back down. I can only get it up (c'mon I mean the window) by helping to push it with my hand. What do I need...I see they sell just motors, motors with the window regulator or just the regulator???
Thanks

I've got exactly the same problem near-side front. Winds down great then while going up, starts to crawl, stops and retires back down to the stops. Swapped with the motor from the offsdie front continued and it continued to do the same. In both cases the motor got hot. Is the regualtor the black plastic box onto which the motor is bolted?
p.s. refitting the door trim was a pain - particualy fitting the grub screw upper front (no bloody hanyes manual for a 1999 A6) - lot of trial and error uniil I cam e across this website.
Any information or or ideas greatly appreciated

Part of the regulaor is what the motor bolts to. There are also a couple rails with cables and such. If the motor gets hot, that indicates some sort of mechanical resistance. Such as a failed regulator. How was the window going up and down with the motor out. It should move pretty easily. You can try lubing the tracks but you probably need a regulator.
