WI and an FMIC are different, though many will try to use WI instead of a bigger IC. WI will not replace a FMIC, but will provide added benefit of actually helping to suppress detonation. WI does remove some heat from the air, but the water/methanol mix acts to effectively raise the octane--a FMIC will not do that. However, my experience is that you need both.
