Default Putting a GIAC chip in my stock B6 1.8T... flash or chip?

I've been looking around for pricing, and some places sell the GIAC chip, and some sell the GIAC flash.

What's the difference? Is the flash cheaper and easier? Is it just as effective as the chip?

Thanks

with flashing the ecu is reprogrammed through an external device, whereas chipping is having a chip physically soldered onto the ecu... they accomplish the same goal.

the only benefit from reflashing that i can think of is not having junk melted onto your oem device, its more inconspicuous.

They will charge you like $50 bucks labor to sodder the chip in. I don't think most places charge to flash.

Its exactly the same. Same software either way. If your car is newer it will be a flash. They didn't yet have the flash for my year when I got mine chipped.

Chipping has been around for years and years. It's only been recently where flashing has started to come around. This is because the tuners are getting smarter and more advanced. Neither one is better for performance, they both accomplish the same thing. If flash is available for your car then I would opt for that since it's easier to hide from the dealer.
