Default question about bilstein shocks..

i found this forum where a guy lowered his car on bilsteins and stock sport springs.( http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1123069.phtml). my car has bilstein shocks w/sports spring, but it is def. not lowered at all. my question is, is it possible to adjust the bilstein shocks to lower the ride height? btw, its a 99 a4 2.8 q thanks

shocks have nothing to do with ride height, they effect ride quality. Springs are what you need to lower your car.

if you have grooved bilstein shocks you can adjust the height a little bit

yes, bilstein makes a shock they call a groved shock. it gives you the option to raise and lower the lower spring perches.

yea i guess i need to take a wheel off and see if they are the groved or not. the guy in the forum (linked above) got it pretty low on just the shocks and raved about the ride quality on the stock sport springs. what should i look for on the shock to see if its adjustable?

Yeah, he bought the adjustable bilsteins and kept his sport springs.

kept my stock sport springs, and installed Neuspeed Bilstein Sports. I set all four of the Neu-Bils on the lowest perches, which ended up dropping the front 20mm, and the rear 10mm (amount of drop is in reference to sport height. In relation to non-sport, it's 40mm lower front, 30mm lower rear).

Did you buy the same shocks that he has?
