Question about compatible chips?? Jets?

I have the opportunity to get a GIAC chip from a 99 a4. does it need to be an exact match for my 00 a4 1.8 auto Ftrac?

99 and 2000's have different engine codes the 99 is AEB and the 2000 is ATW also the 2000 model A4's are DBW (drive by wire) so I doubt it will work
