Fellas this question is for those who have custom intakes, evo ms intakes, abd intakes.... What happens to this piece which is called either one of these names: Ignition Amplifier/Power Output Stage/Ignition Control Unit/Ignitor

RE: Question about custom intakes???

The reason I'm asking is that since I put a custom intake on my car, this piece is hanging loose in the air and today I had a cylinder 3 missfire.. I don't know if they are maybe related..

RE: Question about custom intakes???

nope its hanging lose in my car too, that particular piece is caled the ICM (ignition control module) and if it was faulty you would be getting misfires on cyl 2

RE: Question about custom intakes???

you could just make a small bracket to moutn it on if it bugs you that much

RE: Question about custom intakes???

You know what viking, sometimes I really think you're trying to help the issues and other times I think you comment just to get your post count higher.. My question was: Would the fact that the ICM is hanging loose and not being connected to anything affect my engine in anyway and possibly have anything to do with my 3rd cylinder missfire problem??? and look at what your answer is to me: you could just make a small bracket to moutn it on if it bugs you that much..

Anyway thanks I guess..

RE: Question about custom intakes???

no fighting.
if its not mounted it could be thrown around and be damaged. i would clear the code. mount it and see if you have the same problem

RE: Question about custom intakes???

Thanks jeff, I'll zip tie it to or mount it so it doesn't shift around. To clear the codes all I do is unplug the negative end on the battery for a period of time right?

RE: Question about custom intakes???

sorry, i misread what you said, i actually was tying to help, which i usually do

and a misfire caused by the icm is almost always on cyl # 2 (i have no idea why)

but i dont see how it hanging loose would create that problem, i've seen tons of pics of peoples engine bay and its just hanging there
