Default Question about flooring it in a tiptronic

If i'm in 5th gear in tiptronic then push my foot down lightit comes to astop(like it should). If i push a little harder it gets past a "bump" or "notch" and it goes from 5th gear to 3rd gear and takes off. Is there supposed to be this little "notch" i get past or is something wrong? I haven't tried it when its just in Drive, what happens when i do this in Drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it sounds like you are describing the "kick down switch" it is supposed to be there and it will actully gear down for you when you need extra power. typically when you don't need the power anymore it will return you to the appropriate gear.

Ahh, i see, well thanks. So all it does is put you in a lower gear and nothing else(and burn up more gas [:@]haha)??

Also, twice since i've had the car (about 3 months) when i push the peddle all the way down it has actually "stuck" all the way down. It wouldn't come up, i had to get my toe under the peddle and push it up. It kind of scared me since it just kept accelerating. Is this a known problem at all?? If so is there anything i can do to make sure it doesn't happen agian?

holy crap! that would scare the crap outta me. I haven't heard of that happning before. you might want to get that looked at. maybe the pedal has something keeping it down there. especially if you had to manually bring it back up. I've heard of pedal problems due to the drive by wire, but nothing like that. is your car under warrenty. you could take it to the dealer and tell them what happened. most likely they will replace the whole pedal assembly.

I never experienced that problem.

Like EVOLA4 said, you really need to get it checked. It's pretty dangerous running around town line that.

Seems more like a solution than a problem to me -- now you can do more useful things with your feet than keeping it on the accelerator

i would put alittle piece of metal right above the gas pedal that curls in front of it, that way you can just pull it out if it ever gets stuck like nascar drivers do. pull it with your toe that is, just temporary fix...

Yeah, i'm going to take it in soon so they can look at it. I don't know what they will do, becuase i can't get it to stick if i try....it just randomly happens (once agian, it only happened 1 ormaybe 2 times). It would only take one timefor a serious accident tooccur though, so i need to have it checked out.
