Default Question on fuel lines?

I need to replace my fuel filter in my B6 and was going to crimp the lines so that no fuel, or as little as possible, leaks out. Anyone know if the lines going into the filter are just hoses, or is there metal in the hoses that if I crimp them they're not going to allow fuel to flow back through? I just want to have as little fuel leak as I can.

Very little fuel will come out even if you don't bend, clamp or crimp the lines. There is no need to crimp the lines. Just have a small basin there to catch the fuel. Not much more fuel than the fuel filter holds will come out.
