Default Question for those of you who have installed sway bars...

Hey guys,
I just bought H+R adjustable sway bars front(32mm) and rear(20mm) for my 2004 A4 1.8T FWD MT and I have no idea how the front bar mounts and neither does the shop I have installing it. The rear bar went on fine without and problems and I am happy with it, but I wanted to get both the front and rear installed at the same time. Has anyone installed a front sway bar on their B6/8E A4 models and can tell me what I'm missing or what's going on? The stock front sway bar end is threaded directly into the bar, whereas the H+R bar has 2 ear holes on a flat piece of metal at the end of the bar. The H+R bar did not come with any other mounting items other than the bushings and no instructions (which normally you wouldn't need as it "should" be a bolt off/bolt on affair). If anyone could help me on this I'd be greatly appreciative! Also if you know anything about FMIC's for B6's see a post on that as well from a few days ago, as I could use help on that dilemma as well... Thanks to all!

John

I have pictures of my factory stock front sway bar installed and I do not see ANY way it can mount without additional hardward; I am currently in contact with H+R USA and GmbH concerning this to see where to go from here. The guy in the US understands what I am talking about and he is seeing what we can do to fix this. Panda can you take pictures of how your front sway bar mounted? I'm wondering if Audi changed their mounting points on the front of the B6/8E's sometime between 2002-2004??? I'd be curious to see how yours mounted if you'd have the time to take a picture of it, I'd be greatly appreciative. A4NR, I will try and take some pics of my new H+R 20mm rear sway bar and post them here when I get a chance, and I will tell you there is a big difference in both the way it drives and handles and you can definitely see the difference going from a 12.5mm stock to 20mm H+R. The stock sway bars are pretty flimsy if you ask me, but I can definitely tell a difference in the drive, I just can't wait to get the front sway bar installed after we get this situation resolved. Thanks and I'll keep you guys posted on how this turns out...

APR,
I don't have much experience or know how on the A4 B5's, but on the B6 models items in general are a little hard to come by. I'd assume there are more options since the B5 has been around longer and they've had time to design mods, but as to size it's all up to you. Bigger = stronger... On the B6 there are not many to be had for the rear without welding, which is why I went with the H+R adj. so I could avoid welding. Not that it wouldn't work or be any less effective, I would rather stay away from welding. I know, neuspeed, H+R, LLtek just to name a few all have sway bars for your model and I'm not sure, but I don't think any of the B5 model sway bars need welding, but don't quote me on that. As to which size to get, it's all up to you... what are you looking to do with your car? Anything in particular, or just strengthen the suspension? Any aftermarket sway bar (that is quality) will be better than stock, trust me... The stock one that came off my B6 was very flimsy in my opinion, but don't forget "most" car manufacturers don't build their cars for aggressive driving / racing applications (there are exceptions to that thou). I'd just recommend buying quality with whichever sway bar you decide on; you bought a quality car, don't skim on the mods... Just my .02

should i only get the rear or go for both? With the front and rear is their a big difference than just having the rear one?
