audi is not a good starter car unless you are spoiled rotten.. Costs you/your parents a ton to maintain properly unless you do it yourself.

A quick question, that not a quick question, A quick queston would be somethng like, huh, or what, or who. I feel that I have been dooped into answering a longer question under the idea that this won't take that long.

HAHA. i'v been waiting to use that for a while, It is really a matter of taste. I personaly like the B5's (96-01) A4s but you have many other things to consider. give use alittle more of what your looking to do in the future with the car, and we can help lead you toward somethnig that will suit you the best for those goals. Good to have you in the Audi family.(well soon anyway)

a VW something along the lines of a GLI or GTI would be a great car to start with. you can pick them up for a decent price and have a very nice quick car.

Im just being honest with him man.. We all know what the potential costs are of problems that are common, and even routine maintnance can be costly... A Honda or Toyota is a good starter car because they are going to be more reliable and cost less to maintain in general... Most 17 yr olds dont make enough money to replace control arms, Tbelts, etc.. Not having to pay rent is a plus, but my best advice would be to get a less fancy/more reliable car for le$$ and save for the audi of your dreams when you are far enough in life to afford it/appreciate it.
PS..de noob... I30's arent for old people.. its the same thing as a maxima which is an extremely reliable classy car for any aged person. (and im not just saying that cuz i own one!) I think a maxima/ I30 (late 90's model) would be a perfect starter car. The VQ30 engine in those cars is amazing.. Have won awards year after year for the top 10 engines made.

Ahahaha. I disagree. 96 a4 12v was my 1st car worked my *** off in summer and paid with my own money.

And fixed it every damn month! grrrrrrrrrrrr

DUde do not buy an AUDI unless you are car savvy somewhat. You need to know how to troubleshoot problems or else an a4 will burry u into ground.

Hey man,
I was also looking into a first car, and this is the first place I came. I got great advice! Simply they told me to get something that i can use to learn about cars...something that i could work on myself. Thats what I did, i got a civic(not to mod, it was offered to me for $500), and i mean its no audi, but its a car that i dont have to worry about as a daily driver. Some of that advice that i found very useful, is look around the forum [USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION], and try and learn everything about audis that you can. See if you would feel comfortable making the repairs, or even look at some of the prices people payed for repairs, and see if you are prepared to spend that kind of money. I am working/saving my a$$ off to hopefully buy a nice audi next spring. I also found that it might be a good idea to allot money for repairs, which i have done. If you get an audi, be prepared to spend money at the drop of a hat to repair it, but also keep in mind that you will be driving a beautiful car, and that is always a great feeling =] I love driving around in my dads car! Honestly, if you have the money, why not. Audis are safe, and pretty quick.

There is my First Car thread, i hope it helps you out!

Good Luck
