Race v Sport Springs
Hi All,
I am about to order the AWE Bilsteins and HR Springs. Does anyone know the spring rate difference between sport and race springs, or is it just the height that is different? I want to lower the car, but I don't want the ride quality to be too harsh, any suggestions?
Thanks

well, as someone who has had both race and sport springs, I'll give you my impressions...
However keep in mind H&R springs are diff than Neuspeed.
On my 98.5 A4 sedan I had Bilsteins/Neuspeed Race. These suckers dropped my car to a tight 1 finger gap all around. The ride was mcuh harsher than the non-sport stock susp I had on the car previous to that. I got used to it, but I always thought it was just a tad harsh. I also had to roll my fenders because I started to rub pretty badly if I took a turn at any decent speed - especially with passengers.
On my 2000 Avant A4 I decided to go with the Neuspeed Sport springs, and used the same Bilsteains that came off my sedan. Much better ride, a 2 finger gap all around. I am happy with this setup, and although I loved the slammed look of ther race springs, I did not like having to roll my fenders or the tougher ride of the race springs.
I have been told H&R springs are softer than Neuspeeds. So your ride may not be as harsh with the race. H&R will not reveal the specifics of their spring rates, even if you ask.
