Rear Fog Bulbs
So after getting my '01 I noticed that the right rear fog light it out. So I go in and notice there's no bulb in that socket, but there's a spare bulb in the trunk. I plug it in but the bulb is too big to clear the hole into the taillight assembly. On the left, a big bulb (like the rest of the taillight bulbs) is used for the rear fog and the hole it fits in is circular. On the right, the hole is circular but squared off on the top and bottom so the bulb is blocked.
Is there a separate bulb I need or a special method of getting this bulb to fit in there? |
RE: Rear Fog Bulbs
You need to cut that square out. The reason they don't want you to put a bulb in there is it will make it look like brake lights when they are on rather than just a single brake light. All of them are like this.

Or, you could just ride the brake to drive around with your brake lights on.

If you actually plan on using the thing (and it DOES make a difference in fog), if your area is anything like mine, do the dual mod. The first time I used my single rear fog, I was pulled over for a "blown taillight" and it took 10 minutes of showing the cop the manual, demonstrating the operation of the light, and showing him the fact that another bulb would NOT go in there before he let me go. Easier to just have both of them and avoid the hassle.
