Default Rear suspensions trouble

Hi all, I have bad news about my 99 A4 My rear suspension was making some squeaking noises when I would go off curbs and hit pot holes. I took it into my local garage that I have dealt with for all my past cars. They called me today after checking it over and gave me an estimate of around 1700 dollars to replace pretty much my whole rear suspension system. They said that the springs were broke, the bushings and tire rods were bad, something about a linkage.., and also the shocks were shot. I dont have the money to fix this right now but I just started a new job so I will shortly. I am looking to put lowering springs on, would 1.5 Ttiens be to much of a drop? Also would I be able to find any other parts I need for my suspension at a cheaper price? Any input on what you guys think would be the best way for me to handle this would be great. Thanks!

That was happening to my old 2.8. It was really bad to! They said that since they couldn't pin point it they would have to replace the whole thing. So right before I sold it I lubed all the joints up with lithium grease to make it quite and then never saw the car again!

That was pretty shady paintball guy, and Ctown..... maybe your suspension is messed up because you "go off curbs and hit pot holes" I wouldn't get my car lowered if I were you.....

I shouldn't get my car lowered because I drive out of my driveway...? And you obviously dont live in Ohio, our roads are shitty plain an simple, im good at dodging them but sometimes they get me.I used to drive an Integra that was dropped, i can handle it [8D]

Save money on the install and do it yourself you can get a good coil and spring for 700, plus install. the control arms are bit more pricey, i think the 1700 is a good deal, if you want to lower it get the kit and give that too them you could save some money.
