rear view mirror re-attachment

rear view mirror re-attachment
So after a month or two of 110º+ heat here, my rear view mirror fell off. I went by napa and got some re-attatchment adhiesive(wow i spelt that wayyy wrong) for it, but I can't get the little metal button out of the mirror attatchment. How do I get this out? I saw a thread a while ago that said something about twisting something, but I can't find that thread again.
SO, how do I get that metal button out?!

Went through there, nothing about how to re-attatch it.
Anyone else have some ideas?
