Recently had my car chiped

I had my 2000 A4 1.8T chiped today with a GIAC chip. The place that did the work claimed that there was a "problem" and if I was to go over 5000 rpm I would loose all power and have to turn the car on then off again to reset the ecu and would need a MBC to fix this. Does this make any sense at all? becuase I figure he was just full of sh!t and wanted me to buy a MBC from him?

I doubt there is a problem. I've gotten rare overboost conditions in the last 3 years.

no prob redlining in my car. maybe they wanted to keep you from racing. maybe they want you to take it easy for the first couple weeks while everything adjusts. 5ks bout where to power maxes, so you don't really go over it too often.
