Default Removing Battery from a 2002 A4 1.8T

Hi everyone,

I've put in about an hour searching for this particular issue, but I'm hoping someone could give me some more advice specific to my year / model of A4.

My battery died, and I've gotten an appropriate replacement battery. I've managed to undo the terminal connectors, but the battery will not budge from the compartment when lifting on the handles.

As per other DIY posts, I noticed a single allen bolt at the front of the battery that appears to be holding it into place. This allen bolt loosens but does not come out. I tried removing the pollen filter on the passenger-side of the engine compartment to see if anything was hidden in there, but no luck.

I can't see anything else that could be holding the battery in place, and any assistence would be VERY welcome.

Thanks in advance,
-Gary

I had same problem but, with mine, the allen screw came out and the battery popped right out. Try again to get the bolt out and also check on the bottom sides of the battery...mine had little clips the bottom battery edge slid into.

Good luck
