Replace just A/C clutch or compressor?
Hi y'all--
My bearing is shot on my 2000 1.8t quattro compressor-- makes a horrible rattling noise and blows the #25 fuse that goes to the blower fan and the a/c clutch. Blower works fine as long as a/c is off, and the a/c is cold until the fuse blows, so I think the compressor itself is okay.
Is it possible for a DIY to just change out the clutch side of the compressor? Or would I need the same tools as I would to change out the whole compressor? I know that the compressor is easy to get to and bolt off but I definitely don't have the tools/expertise to evac/depressurize the system itself. Can I do the clutch without that? (assuming I can get one)
