Ok so I found by searching instruction on how to reprogram the key when you have two of them.

What if I only own one set of key ? Is there a way to reprogram it ?

I have been told that it<s not possible. .....

Not unless you have a vagcom... trust me I have tried. If you just replaced the batteries then try the way in the owners manual - worked for me once. Other than that, I have yet to succeed reprogramming my one key. I since bought a 2nd one off ebay and will reprogram them soon.

 

But the instruction I found you needed one key that was already programmed to be able to reprogram it.

I have access to the VAGCOM. If anyone would have a link where I could search VAGCOM instructions that would be great.

 

I just realized that I have another key (remote) from my previous car (same year). Could that help me out ?

Make sure to check the B5 FAQ, I have a feeling it could be there. If not for sure search "reprogram keyless VAG" or something to that effect.

 

I think there is no way out of it. I cannot to anything with only one key !!!!

I didnt get the valet key when I bought my car ... !!!!

 

just go get another key cut at the stealership like i did.. it sucks.. but what can you do? [&:]

 

Get a blank blade off ebay and get someone to cut it for you. You have to find a place that can drill the pattern, a locksmitting place that does high security systems should be able to.
