Reset everything

Is there a way to re-set an ECU? i have heard all you have to do is remove one of the battery lines and then plug it back in but i dono if that will work or not

In most cars if you unhook the battery for like 15 mins it resets the computers memory but I don’t know if its going to reset everything or what you want it to reset.

wont reset any real lights such as airbag or an electonic problem (odometer related, etc.), maybe just maybe it would reset engine light.

yes this resets the CEL, it resets the radio too, hope you have the code.
but if the prob isnt fixed the CEL will come back on.

What if you just unplugged all the fuses for the ECU and on board diagnostics?
I think there's about fuses 4 in total.

Wouldn't have to worry about re-setting your radio and getting radio codes this way

Why do you feel you need to disconnect your ECU?

If you don't have your radio code, do not disconnect the battery.

I thought I read somewhere that B6's(I know he has a B5) have the radio coded to the ECU and disconnecting the negative battery terminal wouldn't require entering the code.

yea i actually rescently had to disconnect my batterie and when i plugged it back in i didnt need the code.

but........ i think i was just lucky.
the code will be in the manual.
