Default Rotating Tires (A4 Quatro) - "traditional" rotation ok?

I tried searching but I could not find a definite answer for the Quatro.

My wife's A4 Quatro needs to have the tires rotated this weekend. I rotated them the last time by following the manual (Swap front and rear tires, keeping them on the same side of the car).

But, can I do a "traditional" rotation where you bring the rear tires straight up to the front and then cross the front tires as you bring them to the rear?

Her tires are non-directional so I don't see why this would be a problem.

regardless of directional tread, any tire techs will tell you 'off the record' that radials should stay the same direction.
