Default Rust proofing

I just picked up a 2001 A4 1.8T and thinking of getting a rust proofing done using Krown rust here in Canada. They did my van 15 years ago and there is no rust on it to this date. I know the Audi has a 15 years warranty but I just saw an A4 that was probably a 1999 or 1998 made that has rust all over the bottom of the door. I am thinking of keeping this car for at least 15 years. Anyone did rust proofing on their car.
Your thoughts will be appreciated.

15 years! Now that's a long time to hold on to a car! I was under the impression that the rust warranty was for only 12 years.

Seems like you have answered your own question, Dudley.
I thought the rust warranty was only 10 years.

Audi has a really good program for rust control; there galvanized metals are very high quality, too.

It's surprising to hear that you saw a young A4 with so much rust. Any chance the owner lives by the sea or has driven it a lot in winter on heavily salted roads? The salt will break down the paint and rust protection very quickly. Whenever I drive my car on salted roads or if I've been to the seashore for an extended time, I wash and rinse the undercarriage thoroughly.

hard to do when you live in Canada, man. I grew up there. When you have a winter that lasts 4-5 months its not easy to just wash the stuff off. I can understand why some cars rust.

Krown has a decent rep from what I know. If you can spare the cash, go ahead and get your car done. But I would bet that the car you saw that was rusted out was never taken care of properly... never waxed, not washed regularly, etc...

Ditto.
What I was trying to infer with my last post.
