Secondary Air Pump
hey sorry not to good with this kinda stuff. My dealer told my my secondary air pump is out. how much should this be to fix and is it possible to do it your self and is it easy? also were can i find a new pump cause i cant find one? thanks sorry for the hassel
Where do you live? In some states, the SAP is covered by a 7- or 8-year emissions warranty. Replacing the SAP should not be terribly difficult, but be sure the combination valve is in good shape. Often, these permit water from the exhaust system to condense and flow into the SAP. Obviously, if this root cause is not repaired, your new pump will fail prematurely.
i live in michigan and we dont have strong emission laws so i dont think it will be covered but do you know about how much it should cost for just the part and how many hours it should take, thanks
Yeah my SAP is done too... only messes up in the winter though. What happens is the combination valve goes, and lets moisture into the secondary air pump... in winter, that freezes and causes teh CEL... in spring it will likely go away. Mine did.
And the SAP is not covered under the emissions warranty... the emissions warranty sucks. o2 sensors and the cat, I think. :P
I got quoted over 800 CDN for my secondary air pump and combination valve. Half that was labour.
