Seeking Info on Manual Transmission

I have just bought a 1998 A4 2.8 Quattro in manual transmission. As the owners manual and supplement say nothing about the transmission or gears, and I am a new driver, I was wondering where I could get information on the recommended gear shift points/time,
and other ifnormation about the gear levels. Thanx

I normally shift about 3-3500k and cruise at about 2k. If pushing the car maybe about 500k before redline cause when you push in the clutch the rpms will still rise abit. As far as gear ratio's i got no idea.

Hahah, and here I was thinking the whole point of manuals was so you could decide when to shift.
