First off, 1.8's run 15.9 stock. Check Audiworld.

Second, my chip didnt add maybe 50 hp, it added 55hp and 90lb-ft (206hp/245lb-ft). Something tells me that will decrease 1/4 mile time by more than .5 seconds.

Third, a 30v 2.8 runs 15.4 (again from audiworld) with only 190hp/210lb-ft, and 150lbs more weight than a 1.8. So a 1.8 with a chip will run low 15's on this scale.

I ran my 30V 2.8 at the track, all it has is an intake, and i ran a 15.0

Stock i ran a 15.5

I love my 2.8, its pretty quick, smokes my friends 1.8T's all day long, they jut have intakes, but still fun.

I wish i got a 1.8T though, aftermarket is much better for them

1.8's...15.9??? dang i dont think ive ever seen this accomplished...when i had my non turbo eclipse that ran a 16.2, i walked all over a 1.8, the kid went to my high school, he kept talking mad crap, we raced in front of a lot of people, i rocked him, he admitted it. and my car ran a track-proven 16.2, nothing to brag about, but still beat the 1.8..

idk why were arguing lol, 2.8 is faster stock, 1.8 will rock a 2.8 if modded. thats that.

Audi's are sick, no arguing that

hahaha love the thread hahahah...

so just talked with the salesman for a long time.... he wanted my car on trade in plus $10,000 for the 1.8T, so i said F*** that. thats givin my car a trade in value of like $3k. SO what i'm thinkin is listin my car for sale and trying to pull $7-8k then throwing a total of $11,500 at him in cash and watch him say YES.

Check the KBB value of the car. Maybe the salesman is asking too much.

well for what it is worth, i have a 98 1.8t, 150hp car..
as far as mods go,
i have had my b5 since day one, and i held off 8 years till i did mods.
well the short of it is, for relatively short money, you can have one hell of a fast car.
i just took a 07 a4 3.2 v6 255hp stick by a car, and i will not dump the cluch, (so i started 1/2 car behind)well caus it has 84k on it and i would like to last till next summer.
the bottom line is, i have a TAP stage 2 chip ($599-) Milltek exhaust ($799-) and K&N drop in ($45-)
so, buy the car.
the 1.8t has so much potential
buy it

is a 2001 1.8t faster than earlier model 1.8t's because of the increase in hp/boost? (5spd)
