What are the ideal RPMs to shift at for a tip 2001 2.8 A4? 6000?

Depends on the gear, gear ratios, wat hp/torque wat rpm. Its pretty simple 2 figure out if u have a chart of gear ratios and a hp/torque chart with 100 rpm increments. Just multiply the ratios by the hp/torque to see how much power u put 2 the wheels at each hundred RPM. Figure out the ideal place 2 shift by where the car will be laying more power down 2 the road in the higher gear and should be up shifted 2 put more power down then can be put down in the current gear, It's real simple and i keep a chart for all my bikes and cars cause i love 2 race. Just use wat i told u to figure out where 2 shift for any vehicle.Simple easy and effective with a good dyno chart.

Finding a 4-wheel dyno is the difficult part. Does anyone know of a site showing dyno sheets of different stock cars?

It is best 2 have at least 100-250 RPM precise measurements. Not as simple as it sounds with a crappy dyno chart. Also all cars are diffrent by a lil even the same year, engine and model.

cmon people. its a car many others have with of course, a stock transmission! really now, there has to be someone on here with the same engine and knows the shift points! its not that hard. i think the last thing he needs is a bunch of different ways that are so not worth it for the amount of time he can shave off.

All depends on why u want 2 shave that time off, also if its more then a quarter mile u may be surprised depending on the car just how much people over rev the engine when more power would be put 2 pavement in a higher gear. He asked i anwsered. I race bikes in TPM and always strive to shave another half second. You would be surprised at higher speeds where the wind resistance is large just how much of an acceleration diffrence being 1k RPM off in a lower gear u think has more power when u should have upshifted. On the dyno chart, it all depends on wat he wants to do.

5000. Theres a flat spot after that so you won't be making any power. Keep in mind that the trans USUALLY refuses to shift from 3-4-5 at WOT. You'll have to ease off like a manual or it'll hit the rev limiter.
