Should I buy 2002 A4 1.8T Quatrro????
Hey all,
I have been reading over this forum for quite sometime, but havent had a chance to post. Basically, i have always been in love with Audi's but have not been able to afford one (Stupid university tuition and all). I am considering getting a used 2002 A4 1.8T Quatrro with the 5-speed manual.
However, reading on some sites and here as well, i am a bit concerned with the reliability of an older Audi, especially with the higher millage.
Could some of you guys/girls that might have similar models, tell me what types of major problems you have had and how much should i expect to spend on check-ups/upkeep per year if i pick one up?
I was thinking of getting one with somewhere between 70,000-130,000 km. (~43,500-80,000 miles)
If i pick one up, i am hoping to keep it for about 4-5 more years.
Please any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.
P.S. I want to stick to 2002 and up model. Also, what would a rebuilt engine cost?

the engine can take alot, so you should be fine, especially with an 02. As long as you take car of it, it can go 200,000+ miles (~?km). Yes audis are amazing. get it! haha
just so you know tho, tb replace at around 90,000.
Good luck on the new car! and post some pics!

Hey man, I can definitely relate to being in college and owning an audi. There has been a bunch of posts like this and what is the general maintenence. Top thing is timing belt should be done by 80,000 miles. But an audi will last close to 300,000 miles if well taken care of with all service. If you are a do it yourself person you will save a lot of money because audi service is not cheap. But you wont regret owning an audi unless you dont take care of it. Hope this helps. Maybe someone with a b6 (2002-2004) will post on this because common problems might be different than my b5.

as long as it taken care of the car will be no prob. like ford2audi said the labor charges on audi's are whats really killer. if you are mechanically inclined and can work on other cars, you should have no problems working on this one to save yourself a crapload of money. audi's just require a bit more patience when working on
