Default Sirius problem

Just took delivery of a new 2007 A4 Avant.

Has Bose/Sirius Audio package, and the dealer installed the Audi iPod connection in the glove box. No navigation.

The problem is that I cannot get the Sirius radio activated despite repeatedly following the directions from Sirius and waiting for the satellite signal. I can see the content / title information for all of the satellite stations, but I get no audio. I have tried the activation at least 5 times.

The rest of the radio works fine.

Any similar experiences to this, and any idea why this might be happening? Any relation to the iPod connection made at the dealer? I would prefer to troubleshoot this on my own rather than take it back to the dealer this soon after purchase.

Thanks

you may not have the audio cable attached its a separate cable when its installed in the module bring it back to audi the dam thing is brand *** new. i wouldnt even bother touching it if its under dealer warranty. Plus the satillite works if you see all the content. I cant tell you that much

I just bought a 2008 A4 quattro with the Bose Sirius package,iPod connector in the glovebox and no navigation. I experienced the sameEXACTproblem as you - tuned Sat to channel 184, sent the activation signal from Sirius, could see all of the stations & descriptions, but no sound at all coming from the speakers.TheiPod,AM/FM stations, & CD all worked and sounded fine. I calledSirius - they suggesteddisconnecting the sat radiounit in the trunk for 5 minutes and reconnect to allow it to reboot . Did this, no help.

Took it back to the dealer yesterday for them to debug & fix. Well, I got quite a shock when they said theyCAN'T fix it!!! Seems that the combination of both Sirius and an iPod is a non-starter as they use the same jackin the rear of the head unit in the dash. So, it's EITHER Sirius or iPod, but not both. The only work around is to pull the head unit from the dash and change the connection in the rear.

The dealer offered to refund me the price of the iPod connection and asked me to choose whether I wanted to listen tothe iPod or Sirius. I chose the iPod, but I just can't believe this audio system is so Mickey Mouse that it would not allow both inputs to work.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem???

Thanks..

I just bought a 2008 Audi A4 with the IPOD connector, installed an aftermarket XM satellite receiver in the trunk, and both work. I have a different problem that the headunit is only playing XM preview channels, but I can switch (and Hear) both the satellite and the IPOD. I know this was an issue on older models but I think they have fixed it on the new ones.

By the way, who installed your satellite radio? Did they change the bus connection behind the passenger kickplate? Before I made this connection change my head unit would show only "no sat radio" and the IPOD would not work. Let me know what you come up with.

Sat radio was factory installed. Don't know about the bus conenction behind the pass kickplate, but they indicated, to change the connection, would require pulling fascia and trim around head unit, then pulling the head unit.

Does your satellite work through the head unit? What happens when you press the SAT button the head unit? Like I said before I made the kickplate connection change I had a similar situation where I lost my IPOD sound when the satellite was connected. Now both work.

When I press the SAT button, the head unit central display shows the various Sirius channels and the current Sirius station that it is tuned to, exceptno sound from the speakers. When I press the CD button once, I get the CD player for CD's #1-6; upon pressing it a2nd time, I get theiPod (and display shows CD's #7-12). The iPod sound playsthru thespeakers fine (as do CD's, AM andFM).

By "passenger kickplate", do you mean under the carpet of the passenger floorboard? If so, how do I access itand what is it that I would be looking for?

It almost seems that all I would need is a Y splitter and then could have either SAT or iPod.

The kickplate connection supplies power to the satellite receiver or not, but it sounds like they made that connection already. As far as what needs to be modified to use both sat and IPOD interface take a look at this post, http://forums.audiworld.com/audio/msgs/49672.phtml

Weird thing is that I can hear sound from both my sat and ipod and I haven't modified anything.

Sweet reference - thanks!

So, do you hear the Sat radio_and_ the iPod at the same time when the head unit selector is set to CD?? Or, is it when the head unit is set to SAT?
