So what makes the Stratmosphere intake for the 3.0 worth $350?
http://www.stratmosphere.com/hf_a4_30_580.jpg To me this just looks like a cone filter which costs about $50, some clamps and fittings worth maybe $20, and a heat shield worth maybe $50. Can you just buy a cone filter of your choice and affix it to the end of the stock intake piping with a rubber connector and some hose clamps? Then maybe fab up a heatshield for it? I am sure people have done this and it would prob only cost around $100, are they any threads out there? I know intakes produce minimal gains so I mainly want one for the sound, but $350 is way to much for something so simple. And I am pretty sure this intake is the only option for the 3.0, unless the Evoms one works for $300.
dude just get one off of ebay for 50 bucks shipped, the sound is amazing and its good quality. Take it from all of us experienced v-6 members and just get one off ebay
I have a brand new cone filter just sitting in my garage (used for 8 days actually). Not sure it would be worth the hassle of selling/shipping it when you can go to autozone and pick one up for pretty cheap... But if youre interested, Ill sell it for cheap. Shipping+ a few bux. Might end up le$$ than a new one.. Let me know if you want me to find out about shipping.
