Spark plug help
I have a 99 a4 2.8 quattro, stock, but im planning on doing an intake and chip soon. I'm planning on getting some Denso Iridium plugs (<<Should I get something else??I want the absolute best in performance). Anyway, my question is, what should I gap them at? And is changing the plugs an easy DIY or is it a PITA?
thanks
thanks
You aren't going to find any plug that gives you the "best performance". Even the cheapest ones spark
Unless the plug is fouled or gapped incorrectly, or worn, you wont notice any difference with new plugs.
The only major difference between iridium, platinum plugs are that they are harder metals and will last longer than "ordinary" plugs. Other than that they don't improve performance.

I dont know what the gap should be but I will tell you one thing... MAKE SURE YOU PROPERLY TORQUE THEM DOWN WHEN YOU INSTALL THEM haha... i had a small problem with mine shooting out of my motor a few weeks ago b/c of that...
No you don't put them on tight, you tighten them to the correct torque.
If you are going to work on the car, invest 15 dollars in a Haynes manual for the Audi from PEPboys or other autoparts store. It contains DIY information.
The plugs should be at 22 foot-poungs.
According to my book the gap for the DOHC engine is 0.063 inches. Double check the old plugs to see that the gap is atleast close
