Default Speed Tuning Chip - [2.8 Review]

Okay you 2.8 owners, don't slit your wrists just yet. There is hope for us after all! I just returned from having my 2.8 chipped by Oliver, and i can honestly say that it does make a difference!

The torque gain is incredible. This upgrade, coupled with my tip-chip, makes me love my car all over again. My car feelsstronger than it did before, and when i'm driving in tip mode, the shifts really snap (yeah torque!!). My butt dyno chart doesn't lie. On the drive home, i goosed the throttle, and before i knew it, i hit95mph. For $125 bucks, i couldn't be happier.

Now in all fairness, i've never had the 2.8 GIAC chip installed, so i don't know how it compares. However, GIAC claims a 6hp/6ft lb torque increase and i'm 95% sure (+/- a percentage) that i'm getting more from this chip than i would from the GIAC (at a fraction of the cost). But without an actual dyno test, i can't verify the results.

Oliver said to give it around 200 miles for the transmission toadapt to the chip, but for now, i'm a pretty happy camper.

If you haven't already, jump in on this deal. It's totally worth it.

To the best of my knowledge, no. You can call Oliver, or check their website, to verify.

Jeff, really glad to hear man. We need to set up another gtg, it might be tough in the cold weather though.

No chip for the 12v guys (don't worry i feel your pain), sorry...

GTG will have to wait until spring (at least for me). Dec/Jan/Feb time frame is a busy time, so i'll be on the road a bit.

You can really feel +/- 6hp/6tq? I'm not sure if 125 bucks is worth that... did you notice a good change in throttle response?I guess either way, paying 125ish dollars is better than buying the GIAC for more money...
