you mean aftermarket spriings? I dont know of anyone that does, and i wouldnt try it myself.... Especially on stock sport stuts that have over 50k miles on them.. Theyll still take major abuse from aftermarket springs even though they are called "sport."

I installed H&R's on my b5 with "sport suspension." I really think I could have skipped getting the kyb shocks. The springs only dropped my car about 1/4". So it wouldn't have been much extra strain on the shocks. Hope that helps. Can post some pics if need be. Im pissed at H&R...1/4"...c'mon...at least drop my car an inch! [:@]

it isnt thr drop that hurts your shocs. its the stiffer spring rate. it causes the car to rebound a lot faster and harsher, putting more strain on the car

it will also cause the car to "wobble." this happens becuase you have a stiff spring and a soft shoc, so the shoc isnt strong to stop the car from bouncing a lot, so the car will go up adn down and up and down more so then normal until you get stiffer shocs.

that also hurts your stock shocs.

guess it depends on what lowering spring you go with. My H&R's aren't much stiffer than stock, better yes...but not enough to be worth the money I spent on them.

did you get h&r sport or race springs? and did you come from stock suspension or "sport" suspension?
