Stalling

Hi guys,
1.8 T, 80 K , 1999, automatic
The car runs great , shifts perfectly but just before a complete stop the car starts to stall and I have to shift to neutral to stop the stalling. Also , after a good 45 min highway driving, the stalling is not present for a while.
Of course I went to the dealer , who unfortunatelly couldn't find the problem, no faulty codes were recognized, the throttle body was cleaned , but my car is still stalling. It's frustrating. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Stalling

My guess would have been a dirty throttle body.

Who cleaned it? Check for possible vacuum leaks.

Not sure whether the car has a lock up torque converter. If so, this could be a sign that the lockup isn't unlcoking.

If this is a drive by wire car, reset the throttle body by disconnecting the battery. If the throttle is controlled by a cable this can't be done.

Some updates....
I went to the dealer for a second time...my car has been sitting for 3 days on the floor now and no definitive resolutions have been given....on the first day they found some vacuum leak ...despite that the stalling continues...second day- the pro's at the dealership claim the problem lies in the ICM, which was replaced.....and yeahhhh, the car stalls again....no idea was thrown at me on the 3th day....let see what happens tomorrow....I suspect after replacing all these parts they may ask me to pay for it ....it would be "a combination of faulty parts " instead of single one....Could they pull this off?

thanks

So what are the codes they are getting. There should be codes all over the place.

The pro's at the dealer will be happy to get ANY code, unfortunatelly there were none .

Hmmm, I'm baffled. This symptom is usually a dirty throttle body. I have had this problem with several cars at high mileage. Usually cleaning the throttle body with a soft tooth brush and throttle body cleaner has solved the problem.

seen this problem before and it was the idle up system ( not sure if your car has this relay ), if it idles in N/P without stalling and only does it in gear D at a stop then this could be the problem

RE: Stalling

Guys, thank you for the input but they have gone over all those things allready. Today I called to check on the status and what I got was: "well unfortunatelly we have reached an impass."
The pro's at Clair Audi will try tomorrow to swap ECU's , but I've done it with used one a month ago...and it's stalls and it's stalls
