Starting problem
Hey guys, this is a 1.8t auto which my dad runs for work, its a '98.
If you start it up from cold say to move it on the drive, then turn it off, when you go to restart it it won't start, just turns over and over until it floods itself. Can be cured by leaving it for a day or two, but obviously that's no good if it's used everyday. If you manage to get it going when it's playing up, it'll misfire and run very rough. Anybody have any ideas on what to check? |
RE: Starting problem
call up an audi dealership and see what they say, i dont know what to tell ya

RE: Starting problem
Audi said, "book it in and we'll take a look"
ie they'll charge me nearly £100/hr to let the least senior person there look at it, and then tell me nothing is wrong.[:@] |
RE: Starting problem
it could be fouled plugs from having it flooded all the time. id at least check these if not replace them.

RE: Starting problem
I know the problem. I joined this forum to ID the same issue. I've seen some threads about a purge valve causing this when filled with gas, but that doesn't happen to me.
I was once told by BMW (other car) that the starting sequence isn't allowed to complete, hence it doesn't begin at the beginning. I just let it idle while before I shut it off, then there isn't a problem. I wish I had the real answer. '99 A4 2.8 |
