stock 2.8 vs stock 1.8T
I have a question. How much HP does a stock 2.8L 12v motor put out and how much HP does a STOCK 1.8T put out??? I heard that the stock V6 was stronger than the stock 1.8T and I need the professionals out there to verify this. Thanks

The stock 12V motor is a dog and if you get this car there are no mods out there for this I think it has 170hp the 12V anyway but the stock 1.8T isn't much better putting out 150 and then in 2001 170 but for modification wise you can make the 1.8T faster than a S4 with not that much invested

RE: stock 2.8 vs stock 1.8T
Well it depends on the year of both cars. 1997 and older A4 2.8's have 170 horsepower versus 1997 up till 2000 A4's which have 150 horsepower. The 1998 and up A4 2.8 has 190 horsepower and the 2001 and up A4 1.8T has 170 horsepower. Lastly even though the 2.8 has more horsepower, there is a lot more you can do to the 1.8T's and you can gain horsepower for less money than you could on the 2.8. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I understand that after hooking the 1.8T up you can give it crazy HP, I just wanted to know which was more powerful with no mods. Is there any way to push the 96 2.8 12v to or over 200 HP???

clconversion, dude you are way off. There are plenty of mods for the 12V engine out there. There are more mods for the 12V than for the 30V engine. You just can't go buy them at the tuner shop exactly. We have an underground following of tuners.
Getting the 12V to 200 HP is not that hard.
-new cams
-bored MAF
-pp throttle body
-silicone hose kit w/recovery sleves.
-exhaust
With no mods the 12V engine is more powerful than the 1.8t (1995-2000 1.8t)

You need to hang out at the 12V forum on audiworld.com Look for a guy named 1PissedOff90, he is a retired guy who does tuning for the 12V. He is a retired guy who use to own AbnormallyAspirated.com. He has since shut the website down, because he couln't handle the demand. He still does tuning for us, he just doesn't advertise anymore. He'll only sell by invitation (me). Intoduce yourself in the 12V forum, lots of great guys who love the 12V engine.
