Default stock clutch

Im planning on heavily modding my car and I was wondering how many lbs-ft the stock clutch in a 2000 a4 1.8t quattro can handle. I was planning on getting an APR chip which brought it up to 247lbs-ft but im a bit worried i may have to get a stronger clutch. thanks for the help.

for just a chip u dont need a new clutch
even the automatic can handle the chip

if u want up grade the turbo then its time to change the clutch

Ya... the stock clutch should last you through most mods.

ull be alright for a chip and some otehr mods but a K04 on it might be the limit on it. And u wont be able to just drop teh clutch with a chip. NOt taht u could stock anyway.

I just got a 2001 A4Q 5-speed and notice what seems to be very long clutch travel. I'm used to my GTI and my other Audi is a tiptronic. Is long clutch travel normal? (BTW, I've order Dieselgeek's short shifter.)

Correct. On my GTI, the clutch engages almost immediately. On this car, I thought it wasn't even in gear the first couple of times. Is that normal and something I need to get used to, or can it be adjusted?

Yeah almost all Audi's have a long clutch. They don't engage till the end.
