I just bought a 1998 A4 and on the dash it has the radio station, band, and song title. i was wondering if i put in an aftermarket deck would this still work. Also does the 6 disk changer play burnt cds?

the changer will play burned cd's (at least mine did)
But you will lose the dash display funtionality from the stereo.

Thats what the "RDS" button is for (FYI): Radio Data System.

I have no idea so I'll guess that most all new radios should have this feature., but I've looked at some new decks online and they don't list it on the website specs.

he's talking about the display that shows in the dash - not the display on the stereo.
The dash display is a proprietary system that works with the stock system only.

yea i changed mine and now the top section of the display in the dash doesn't work.

Isnt there some rediculously expensive adapter/module to make it work? I thought I read that somewhere... was like 200 bucks though, obviously not worth it.

The top 1/3 of mine doesnt work anymore, and it doesnt bother me.

that wouldnt be worth the mmoney all u have to do is turn ur head and look at the radio.

My carputer reads the artists and song title aloud when the song starts. :)

There are adapters that you can get which will make it work, but they can be expensive. Ive only seen them for cars here in the UK but im sure you can get one for your model. Theres a company called http://www.connects2.com that might be able to help but im not sure if they ship worldwide

my alpine HU shows the song title too. BUt only when from a MP3 cd or my ipod.
