Default Story of a Test Pipe

So I just got my test pipe from ATP Turbo in Fremont and it looks awesome. So I get home, jack up the front, put in jack stands and get to work installing it.

7 and half hours, 3 bloody knuckles, 8 jack in the box tacos, and 2 cokes later

The test pipe is on but I can’t get the third damn nut. The one on the top and closest to the engine. (Here’s where everyone may call me a dumbass) So I think, “Ohh well, I’ll drive it tomorrow and go get the stuff I need to fix it.” For those of you who don’t realize what I did, I was then driving with only 2 of the three nuts on the studs. Biggest exhaust leak EVER! Sounded kinda cool, but just no. Felt more than a slight lack of power. So I go to my friends house the next day and notice that half that the once nice looking metal gasket is now no where to be found. So we unbolt the two nuts, take off the “half” gasket and put on a new one. My friend starts to put on the bolts as I sit back with a feeling of accomplishment then “Dude, I think this bolts stuck, hold on a sec.” *Crack*

*crack* = the sound a stud makes as it breaks in half

So ****. Long story short; blow another gasket, next day I get thread die and re thread the ¼ inch left. It now works great and holy **** it was awesome. The turbo was glowing! I’m sure this has happened to everyone, but it was awesome!

yeah man, if you are going to do the bold closest to the block, ive found it easiest to first tighten that one down and then the remaining 2.

just my friendly advice..eithere way, i wish it was easier.

nah, i got it now and i do let it idle for a few minutes, ie 10 or so, but i got it now thanks to this wrench
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00944834000

It took it from a 7.5 hour job to a 1 hour job. Highly recommended. But yea, it works great now and the next thing on my to do list this

The Virtual Exhaust System

btw, the goal for my car is to be a sleeper

Turbochargers glow... No big deal, as long as you don't go pouring water on it, you'll be ok, haha.

Every boosted car I've ever had, has done it after some serious driving.

On some seriously modified cars, i've seen the turbo so hot, it almost becomes
transparent. If you look carefully you can actually see the inside of the exhaust housing.

Mine glows a nice healthy red, nothing wrong with that! I dare someone to touch it, lol
