Default Switchblade key

Is it possible to use a switchblade remote on a 96 audi a4, because my old square one won't work ?

just ask long as you have the remote unlock lock feature. i just purchased one last week on ebay and it works just fine. i still need to get it cut though, theyve been saying that it costs around 30 bucks to get it done at audi.

wait a minute, the North American 96 model year uses a different locking sytem intirely. You can not use the switchblade key FOB. You're only option is the wierd key remote it came with. Only 97+ share the same locking pump and FCC frequencies.

As I said, they have a different locking system. Most ebay auctions for switchblade keys even say only good for 97 and above.

when you say 97+ does it include the earlier models with 2.8 12v engine? Just curious because always wanted to get a switchblade but told it won't work with my car, 97 2.8 12v.
