TAPPING NOISE!!..??
Hey Guys, I just recently replaced a new timing chain tensioner in my B5 AEB 80k1.8T after ripping my whole front clip off trying to diagnose a "loose chain, clicking noise" under de-acceleration. After finding a brand new timing belt, tensioner, seals, water pump already installed on my car I checked out the timing chain tensioner. (Was not aware you could just take off that front engine piece to reveal all that without tearing the front end off!!!)...Live and learn. Anyway I purchased a new tensioner and installed it butI had to removethe right intake cam out of the way in order to replace the tensioner. While doing so I installed and torquedthe bearing caps down tocorrect specs. but now have one valve (lifter..??) that is tapping. How doI correct this?Should I loosen and re-torqueall the bearing caps again..?? Theres no way toadjust the valves is there..?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
P.S. The problem (buzzingnoise) turned outNOT to bethe tensioner. The problem was the wastegate valve on the turbo. [>:]
