I know, I know...its asked all the time, but here I go

2000 1.8 TQ Tip with 85K. I've just done the timing belt, etc and swapped out the fluids in transmission and all differentials. Have 710N coming.

This my daily commuter (150 miles R/T on the NJ Turnpike) each day. Not into racing, but I need more Oomph for passing and occasionally driving like a nut. (OK, at 45 I'm allowed to act nuts once in a while). Discovered that removing the kids' car seats and the Beany Babies from the rear deck made my car feel a lot faster.

I'm in South Jersey and the nearest tuners are in Willow Grove, PA (AWE, GIAC) or in Lebanon, PA (APR). Willow Grove is about 60 miles away, Lebanon about 100, so no one is exactly local. I was leaning toward APR as it is supposed to be "more gradual".

Thoughts? Looking for the collective wisdom of the group.

Put the beanine babies and the "Baby on Board" triange on your car. adds to the sleeper look.

APR chips offer smooth acceleration in every point of the RPM range. Giac chips i think offer more of a kick with its acceleration. Maybe one or two more HP im not sure.

Hey David9999, I got chipped at lebanon and was very impressed, it only took about 1/2 hr. Actually David_k, Aprs 91 octane adds a quoted 47hp gain. Giac quotes 40 to 45hp gain. I have read alot about them and both are good. I lean toward apr because its more car friendly and more hp.

Thats good to know. So APR offers more horsepower and a smooth acceleration? Sounds like a winner

APR 30 hp on the 91oct chip and 36 hp on the 93oct chip and GIAC 40 hp. That is on the 2000 A4 which is the 170hp dbw engine. Giac has a tip chip chic reduces shift delay from 1 sec to 0.2 sec. Either way these two companies do the same thing no one is less harsher on the engine its how harshly you drive your car.
